Job Description

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and commercially driven Head of Finance to join our Executive Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Finance Department and overseeing all financial operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, audits, cash flow management, compliance, finance systems and stakeholder reporting.

This role requires a strategic finance leader who can provide accurate, value-adding financial insights, support executive decision-making, drive profitability, strengthen financial governance and ensure that the Finance function is fit for purpose.

The Head of Finance will work closely with the CEO, Executive Team, Board, shareholders, customers and internal stakeholders to support the achievement of business objectives and long-term growth.
 

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:


Strategic Leadership

  • Contributing to the development and execution of the company’s strategy and business plans.
  • Providing strategic financial guidance to the CEO, Executive Team, Board and shareholders.
  • Supporting business growth, profitability and shareholder objectives.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Co-creating and monitoring Finance and Commercial KPIs.


Financial Management and Reporting

  • Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Overseeing monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
  • Analysing financial performance, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Managing cash flow, working capital, debtors, creditors, taxation and control account reconciliations.
  • Ensuring accurate, timeous and value-adding financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partnering with the CEO and Business Development team to maximise revenue opportunities and manage costs.
  • Overseeing customer Business Intelligence reporting and ensuring client reporting requirements are met.


Governance, Audit and Compliance

  • Ensuring effective internal controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable financial, tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing external audits and driving the achievement of clean audits.
  • Ensuring adherence to finance policies, procedures and systems.
  • Managing financial risk and compliance across the business.


Systems, Processes and Technology

  • Driving continuous improvement of finance systems, policies and processes.
  • Supporting the procurement and implementation of finance technology.
  • Ensuring finance systems integrate effectively with other core business systems.
  • Overseeing asset management and maintaining an accurate asset register.
  • Ensuring disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place for finance-related processes.


Stakeholder Management

  • Managing relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting pricing, profitability analysis and commercial contract negotiations.
  • Engaging with customer executives and finance representatives to resolve financial or reporting-related matters.
  • Preparing or contributing to technical, financial and commercial reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Staying informed of industry trends, regulatory changes and financial best practices.


Team Leadership

  • Leading, managing and developing a high-performing Finance team.
  • Ensuring the Finance function is appropriately structured and fit for purpose.
  • Promoting accountability, accuracy, service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting recruitment, training and development of finance staff in partnership with HR.
  • Playing an active leadership role across the organisation as part of the Executive Team.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:

  • CA(SA) qualification.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ post-articles experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, audits, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics and management reporting.
  • Strong commercial finance and strategic leadership experience.
  • Experience working with Executive Teams, Boards, shareholders and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of finance systems, process improvement and governance frameworks.
