Freelance / Contract Basis – Ad Hoc, After-Hours
 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Refunds Expert with in-depth knowledge of Amadeus GDS to manage and process complex airfare refunds. This role is ideal for someone who already holds a permanent full-time position but is looking to earn extra income on an ad hoc, after-hours basis. You’ll be providing support during evenings, weekends, or other agreed times outside of regular working hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and validate refunds in Amadeus according to airline and IATA policies.
• Handle involuntary and voluntary refund requests, including partially used tickets and non-refundable fares where exceptions apply.
• Interpret and apply airline fare rules, penalties, and waiver codes.
• Liaise with airlines and consolidators to resolve disputes or secure approvals.
• Advise on best practices for reducing ADM (Agency Debit Memo) risks.
• Support internal teams with queries related to refund eligibility.
• Keep up to date with airline policy changes, schedule disruptions, and industry regulations affecting refunds.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in refunds processing within the travel industry.
• Advanced proficiency in Amadeus GDS (mandatory).
• Strong understanding of IATA, BSP and  procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex fare rules and conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with suppliers, airlines, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while managing other professional commitments.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with refund processing Amadeus.
• Familiarity with other GDS systems (Sabre, Galileo) is a plus.
• Prior work in a high-volume travel agency or consolidator environment.
