Thompsons Travel (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for a
Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) Manager in our
MICE Department in
Johannesburg.
The Objective of this role is to oversee the MICE Department, driving group travel revenue through client relationships and event coordination. The successful candidate will focus on sales targets, vendor negotiations/management and ensure high level seamless execution for corporate clients and meetings.

Required Qualifications
Qualification:
1. Strategic Planning and Logistics
- Develop sales strategies to meet revenue goals, prospect new clients and nurture key accounts for MICE events.
- Planning and managing end-to-end MICE Projects, including venue selection, transportation, accommodation and catering.
2. Sales and Business Development
- Driving new Driving new business acquisition through tenders, proposals, and presentations.
3. Negotiations and Contracting
- Leading negotiations with hotels, vendors and Destinations Management Companies (DMC’s) to secure competitive rates and manage contracts.
4. Financial Control & Budgeting
- Managing project budgets, monitoring ROI on sales spend, and implementing financial controls.
5. Customer Relationship Management
- Building relationships with key clients, providing support, managing expectations, and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
6. Operational Execution & Oversight
- Overseeing onsite event execution, managing risk, and solving issues during live events and deliver post event reports.
7. Team Leadership
- Guiding and managing MICE staff, ensure event execution meets clients’ needs and track performance via reports and market analysis. Build relationships with internal teams.

General Details
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, good geographical knowledge and interpersonal skills, as well as being able to cope under pressure.
- Strong negotiation and relationship building abilities and familiarity with corporate event trends.
- The candidate must hold strong relationships with a Destination Management Companies (DMC’s) both locally and internationally.
- The candidate must have the ability to research and suggest exciting destination properties as well as creative destination ideas.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours.
- Ability to travel with clients both domestically, regionally, and internationally.
- Valid Passport
- MS Office literacy essential
- Presentation skills essential
- Own Transport is preferable
