Job Description

Negotiate and develop products by identifying potential destinations and products; conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining needs, production schedules, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction.

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily.  Excellent writing and editing skills inspired and innovative thinker.  Ability to strategically plan and schedule more than 12 months in advance and adhere to set schedules.  Understanding of basic Web and print publishing processes.  Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.

Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas.  Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.  Obtains product market share by working with sales director to develop product sales strategies per market.  Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses.  Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.

Brings new and original products by analysing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with management and sales consultants. Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume.  Maintains product management staff by training employees on products.  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.  Ability to travel is required.  Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Qualification:

Product Management skills and qualifications.

Minimum of 10 years in Inbond Tour Operator experience and 5 years in Product management.

Destination Management Company (DMC) experience needed.

Strong knowledge of Southern Africa’s products and its geography.

Excellent organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail and ability to follow through.  Knowledge of Microsoft office products and other graphics or presentation software a plus. Enthusiastic and team-oriented personal style that promotes mutually beneficial relationships with other team members.  Project management skills.  Strong negotiations skills, Product Management, People Management, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Requirements Analysis, Pricing, Planning, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning, Inventory Control, Financial Planning and Strategy.
