Northern Zimbabwe hit by floods

Persistent rain over the last few weeks has caused flooding in parts of northern Zimbabwe. Floods are common at this time of year but this year they are more severe because of persistent rainfall in the area. Homes and crops along the Zambezi River have been destroyed where the river has burst its banks. Villagers in the Zambezi valley have been evacuated, with further flooding forecast and floodgates at the Kariba Dam have been opened.
